Halimah from Jabalia in the north of the Gaza Strip used to stay with her sister during her mother's working hours. There, Halimah learnt to take her first steps. Her parents did not get a certificate of birth for her, so when she died, they got both birth and death certificates for the little girl.
Her family was forcibly displaced during the war. They relocated to their grandfather's house seeking shelter. On 30 July 2014, when an Israeli missile hit near the house, they thought it was a warning missile, and started to evacuate. Halima and her mother were targeted by another missile. Halimah was killed at the age of one.
“I was shocked when I heard that they died, so I screamed and cried, I love my brothers and I miss my mother, because she was the one who took care of us,” said her sister, Sabah, who is 12 years old.
