One of the youngest victims of the Israeli code-named military operation ‘Protective Edge,’ Mohamed Anas Arafat, from Rafah, was just less than two months old when he was killed. Mohamed was a calm baby, adored by his family.
“When his mother was pregnant, we were so happy and anxiously awaiting the moment of his arrival,” says Mohamed’s father.
On 1 August 2014, the Israeli bombardment of the Al Tanour area began to escalate, prompting the Arafat family to evacuate their home. They were on their way to the Al Jonana neighborhood on foot when they were attacked by Israeli military aircraft. Mohammed was killed instantly.
