Location Khan Younis
12-year-old Mohamed Naim Saleh Abu Taimah from Khan Younis lived with his mother as his parents had gotten divorced and his mother had moved away. He didn’t like his school, run by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, and so his mother moved him to an Islamic school where he started to do much better. “He had managed to memorize sixteen chapters of the Quran and hoped to be a teacher when he grew up,” said his sister. He liked riding his bike and was good with money, usually saving anything he had for when times were tough, although he sometimes bought sweets for his little nephew.
On 23 July 2014, when Mohamed was at his sister’s house, the home was hit by a shell. Two people were killed in the attack, including Mohamed.
