Eleven-year-old Mohamed from Al Shate’e refugee camp in Gaza City was born after twenty years of his parents' marriage. The family also had eight girls. He left school to help his father in his small fish shop and in his free time, he would ask his sisters to teach him. He liked the sea and was a good swimmer and his neighbors used to call him ‘Al Dakoor’, a nickname after a big fish.
During the war, his mother gave birth to another son. He accompanied her to the hospital. He used to go to the morgue to see the victims of the war.
Mohamed was killed while playing football along with other children on the beach in Gaza City. They were attacked by Israeli forces. “The day of his killing was a very hard day for his family,” said his mother. She says she still cries as if he has just been killed.
