16-year-old Sa’ad Mahmoud Lotfy Al Haj from Khan Younis was a religious boy who spent most of his time at the mosque. “He was very articulate and people used to think that he’d be a very good public speaker,” said his aunt.
On 10 July 2014, with no warning, Sa’ad’s house was attacked by the Israeli military. Sa’ad and nearly all of his family were killed in the attack with the exception of his sister Feda and his brother Yaser who were not home at the time of the attack. Sa’ad’s father, 60; his mother, 57; his siblings Asmaa, 22; Tareq, 18; Fatma, 12; Najlaa, 29; and Omar, 21 were all killed in the attack.
