17-year-old Sa’ad Akram Al Skafi from Gaza City was a bright young man with a promising future. He attained 91 percent in his final high school exams. He was said to be a thoughtful son and would help his mother around the house. As with many boys his age, he could be a little quick to make decisions and his mother was always trying to get him to slow down and think things through.

He was killed on 20 July 2014 when an Israeli warplane launched an attack at Sa’ad’s family home. Eight other people were killed in the attack, including Sa’ad’s father, 63, his twin Anas, 17; his brothers Mus’ab, 27; and Abdel Rahman, 22; his cousins Issam, 29; Ali, 27, and his uncle Mohammed, 52. “When my twins Anas and Sa’ad grew up and started to have different opinions, I used to pray to make them close to each other,” said his mother.
