Ibrahim Kareem Al Semiri, killed by Israeli forces at the age of nine, was a smart boy and did very well at school along with his brother. He was from Deir Al Balah. Ibrahim liked going to the beach and to play around with his camera, taking photos of himself and his friends and family.
On 30 July 2014, his house was targeted by Israeli warplanes. As a result of the attack, a wall fell on Ibrahim, killing him. His brother Mohammed, aged 12, was also killed in the attack and his younger sister, Rasha, 8, lost her leg. The children’s mother, Hanyya, remains in a state of shock after having lost her sons. ‘We miss them all the time and I still see them next to me,’ she says.
