12-year-old Lamia’a from the Al Zaitoon neighborhood in Gaza was described as being different from other girls, more prudent. Most of her questions during the war were about heaven. She was very active at home. She had a sweet voice. She liked drawing. “Her ambition was to be a teacher to help us improve our lives. She used to comfort and relieve my grief when my mother died,” said her 32-year-old mother.
Lamia'a’s family’s home was very old and they worried that it would collapse if an Israeli bombardment took place nearby. Her family decided to evacuate. They went to her uncle's house. Without prior warning her uncle’s house was bombarded by Israeli forces. 9 people were killed, including Lamia'a.
